What is Microblading – and how does it different from eyebrow permanent makeup?
If you don’t love your brows, you do have a few options for enhancement:
- Daily application with a pencil, powder or brow gel
- Brow growth serums
- Brow extensions
- Organic permanent and semi-permanent makeup
Microblading has become the newest hot trend in eyebrow enhancement. How is this different than permanent or semi-permanent makeup? Let us explain.
Microblading is actually a semi-permanent makeup procedure too, but with an appearance that gives a bolder, crisper looking effect. That’s because microblading technique involves drawing individual hair strokes that are crisper. It is more of an “embroidery” of fine hair strokes, which look much like thick, real eyebrow hair.
Microblading is performed by manually depositing pigment under epidermal layer of your skin using a hand-held tool. As such, there is a minor brakeage of your skin in the process.
Pain caused by this technique is similar to the permanent or semi-permanent makeup technique and can be well controlled with the strongest prescription strength numbing cream available, which we use at SDIM & Spa.
One possible down-side of microblading is that it gives you semi-permanent results, typically lasting anywhere from 6 to 18 months.
Microblading is perfect if you want to fully reconstruct, re-define, or cover any gaps in your brows. It also is great just to fill in over plucked brows. You can even add a slight arch appearance to your brows.
In summary, eyebrow Microblading is commonly known as “3D brows.” It is considered semi-permanent, performed using a hand-held instrument, and like permanent makeup, is a meticulous two-hour process.
Remember that there is no downtime and you will be ready for any special event almost immediately. We do recommend that a follow up touch up is done 4-6 weeks after. This touch up is included in your microblading session.
Once your Microblading is fully healed, there is almost no maintenance needed. You can rub your brows, clean them, and even enjoy water sports. This smudge proof procedure is worth your time and money to look great — you can wake up every morning with perfect eyebrows!
