TCA is a non-toxic chemical (trichloracetic acid), which has been used to perform skin peels for over 20 years. It is a relative of vinegar (acetic acid.) When TCA is applied to the skin, it causes the top layers of cells to dry up and peel off over a period of several days to one week. When the old skin is peeled off, it exposes a new layer of undamaged skin, which has a smoother texture and more even color.
ZO 3-Step Peel
ZO 3-Step Peel is an in-office medical-grade peel followed by at home treatment that provides optimal skin tightening and epidermal renewal. Expect longer lasting results than our TCA peel alone. It is safe for all skin types and colors. This peel also treats hyperpigmentation, acne, and acne scars. INGREDIENTS include: 17% Salicylate, 10% Trichloroacetic Acid, (TCA), and 5% Lactic Acid. This peel requires preconditioning 4 weeks prior if treating melasma. Please ask for these instructions.
Glycolic acid peels slough off the surface and middle layers of skin, removing dead skin cells and debris.
Since glycolic acid is made up of small molecules, it readily penetrates skin, removing the lipids that hold dead skin cells together. The percentage of glycolic acid contained in the peel determines how deeply it can penetrate the skin’s layers.
Glycolic acid also loosens and lifts excess oil from hair follicle roots, which is why it’s often used to treat acne.
