It is interesting when patients request to know the cost of my botox (botulinum toxin) per unit. Why? Because they think that they’ll be paying less if they purchase botox at a lower dollar per unit cost.
The far more important thing to know is who is the injector and how careful are they with placing the botulinum toxin.
So many times I have had patients come from other medical spa facilities where they are being injected far too many units and paying far too much than what I find they need. We are talking hundreds of dollars more at these other locations than what I proved to them, they actually need.
Even though my price has been $12 per unit for the past five years, I pride myself in the fact that I know how to place it accurately to get the job done. Nobody needs a frozen face! What we all want is “sweet spot” botox treatments, meaning enough to paralyze the muscles that are creating the lines, but not to fully paralyze them so that there is no movement.
I make the analogy that if you want a cup full of water, I can fill it with 2 cups worth, but one cup will spill over. With botulinum toxin, I can inject more, but your muscles can only hold and respond to what is needed.
That is why I always aim for enough for a beautiful clinical result, and if needed at future visits, I can increase the dosage. I would never overload you with botulinum toxin and tell you that each visit you have to have that amount.
